Double-Century Month!

I did a big loop this morning, part of which was a new route for me. I took 175th east to Antioch, then Antioch south to 199th, then west to Clare and back home – 30 miles total. This pushed my total for the month over 200 miles, a new personal record! There was one steep quad-crunching hill on Antioch, but I made it without walking. The remainder of the route had a few good-sized hills, but was mostly flat. I felt unusually strong, and hardly ever left my middle chainring.

I continued my recent tactic of taking it easy on the uphills, and pushing harder on the flats and downhills. That seemed to help me conserve energy. At the end, I feel I could have gone farther. My speed was surprisingly good, though – 13.45 MPH average. I’ll take that any day.
